Instagram Reel Ideas - Beauty Bookkeeping

Instagram Reel Ideas

With Instagram becoming more focused on its short form video content it’s vital for salons looking to grow their audience and expand their reach on the platform to be making Reels. You can learn all about how to make Reels here, but knowing how and why you should be making Reels is just half the battle. Creating content that interests and engages your audience, as well as yields the results you want, is an entirely different beast and can leave you feeling stuck before you’ve even begun.

That’s where we come in, here are some Reel ideas to help get you started.

  1. Tips, Hacks and FAQs  – Sharing hair tips and tricks is a good way to demonstrate your expertise to your followers. You can share several quick fire tips or create a longer form Reel explaining the advice, why it’s useful and the impact it has had. When creating these types of Reels it’s important to consider your customers, as well as any frequently-asked-questions. It’s also worth taking a look at competitors Reels or your past Reels to see how well they’ve performed.
  2. Behind-the-scenes/Day-in-the-life – The thing that we often forget about social media is that it’s social. It appeals to our natural curiosity, some call it nosiness, about other people. This is also true of businesses, people love to get a peek behind the curtain at things they wouldn’t normally be privy to. This is why Reels offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the day-to-day running of your salon would be likely to perform well. Filming a timelapse of  yourself carrying out daily tasks, such as styling hair, mixing a colour, or cleaning your tools or even just taking your followers through an average day with you, will help foster a connection with your audience and make them feel more engaged with your business.
  3. Customer testimonials – Consumers trust other consumers, it’s why most of us head to the reviews section before committing our money. We want to know that the service we’re investing in does what we want it to before we part with our hard earned cash. A short video testimonial from a loyal and satisfied customer will show your customers that you are a trustworthy business and a worthwhile investment. Reviews also tend to perform well on social media, opening you up to more potential customers.
  4. Make it personal – The most successful business Instagram accounts are those who create personal connections with their followers. Creating a Reel introducing yourself, sharing your motivations, inspirations or career journey will help you build these connections. Another way is to include your employees, introducing your team, by briefly explaining who they are, what they do and what they like about their job, will give your followers an insight into the people who run the business and forge their own personal connections,  making them more likely to engage your services.

“Reels are great for adding personality to your social media feeds! People are following you because they care about what you’re up to, so why not give them some fun, behind-the-scenes insight?” – Chloe, Social Media Manager.
